Justin and Max - Lemosho Route…
This is our Story...
Welcome!
This is the place to be where you can share a part of our life. 7 days of being so completely out of our Comfort Zone! Here you can see what we've been through, what we looked like and how we did while climbing the highest mountain in Africa!
The mighty Kilimanjaro!
Kilimanjaro is composed of three distinct volcanic cones:
~Kibo 5,895 m (19,341 ft);
~Mawenzi 5,149 m (16,893 ft);
~Shira 3,962 m (13,000 ft).
Uhuru Peak is the highest summit on Kibo's crater rim.
After discussing several options with our fellow climbers, Lee and Karin Flagg, we all agreed to do the Lemosho Route. Click here to see route and heights.
The Lemosho Route is widely considered to be the best route on Mount Kilimanjaro. We were also told - the last day of our hike! - That it's the second most difficult route to do
According to searches I found on the internet, it is a relatively new route, preferred by reputable operators due to its beauty, remoteness and success rate. In short, it maximizes the chances that a climber will reach the summit, and enjoy the experience overall.
We signed up with Peak Planet and instead of the usual 8 day route, we all voted to do the 7 day route.
Preparation for the trip between all of us was to hike! Hike lots of hills and trails. With your backpacks, walking sticks and good shoes! Drink lots of fluids and the best advice we could give to anyone is to make sure the group you go with - preferably a private group - is all at more or less the same level of fitness! Know each other’s weaknesses and strengths!
And have fun! This is a "ONCE IN A BLUE MOON" experience!
Our Special Banner. Thanks to Trevor Romain and Dirk Uys !
Special stuff and Thank you's!
Below you'll see some motivational items that were given to us before we started our climb. Each one had a special meaning. We took it all the way to the Summit, knowing that there were people out there believing in us!
A very special thanks to each and every one of our friends and family for their support.
Thank you for all the messages of encouragement, thank you for thinking about us and raising a glass to our Success the night of the FULL BLUE MOON!
